Secondary Air Injection System Air Flow/Pressure Sensor Circuit Low Bank 1
P2432 indicates the secondary air injection system's air flow or pressure sensor circuit is reading lower than expected on Bank 1. This system injects fresh air into the exhaust to reduce emissions during cold start and idle conditions. When the sensor signal is too low, the PCM cannot properly regulate air injection flow.
What You Might Notice
- Check engine light illuminated
- Engine stalling or rough idle
- Difficulty starting the engine
- Rattling or whistling noise from air injection pump area
- Reduced fuel economy and poor acceleration
Most Common Causes
- 1
Faulty air pressure sensor
The air flow/pressure sensor may be defective or producing an inaccurate signal, causing the PCM to detect abnormally low readings.
- 2
Defective secondary air injection pump
The pump may have failed or lost pumping capacity, resulting in insufficient air pressure in the circuit.
- 3
Faulty one-way check valve
A stuck or leaking check valve may allow exhaust backflow or prevent proper air pressure buildup in the secondary air system.
- 4
Wiring issues or corroded connectors
Damaged wiring, loose connections, or corrosion at the sensor connector can interrupt the signal path and trigger low pressure codes.
How to Diagnose It
- 1
Check Faulty air pressure sensor — The air flow/pressure sensor may be defective or producing an inaccurate signal, causing the PCM to detect abnormally low readings.
- 2
Check Defective secondary air injection pump — The pump may have failed or lost pumping capacity, resulting in insufficient air pressure in the circuit.
- 3
Check Faulty one-way check valve — A stuck or leaking check valve may allow exhaust backflow or prevent proper air pressure buildup in the secondary air system.
- 4
Check Wiring issues or corroded connectors — Damaged wiring, loose connections, or corrosion at the sensor connector can interrupt the signal path and trigger low pressure codes.
How to Fix It
- 1
Replace air pressure sensor
Locate the secondary air injection pressure sensor on Bank 1 and replace it with a new OEM or equivalent sensor. Clear the code and test drive to confirm resolution.
- 2
Inspect and clean electrical connections
Check the sensor connector and wiring harness for corrosion, moisture, or loose terminals. Clean contacts with electrical cleaner and ensure connectors are fully seated.
- 3
Replace secondary air injection pump
If the pump is not producing adequate pressure, remove and replace the pump assembly. Verify proper airflow after installation.
- 4
Replace check valve
Remove and inspect the one-way check valve in the air injection line. If stuck or damaged, replace with an OEM check valve to restore proper pressure holding.
