Pressure Control Solenoid "J" Control Circuit Low
P2826 indicates the transmission control solenoid J circuit is detecting a low voltage or open circuit condition. This solenoid controls transmission fluid pressure, and when it fails, the transmission may enter limp mode and shift improperly.
What You Might Notice
- Check Engine Light activated
- Transmission shifts hard or bangs into gear
- Transmission slips when shifting
- Transmission overheats
- Increased fuel consumption
- Transmission enters limp mode
Most Common Causes
- 1
Faulty Pressure Control Solenoid J
The solenoid itself may be stuck, burned out, or electrically failed, preventing proper fluid pressure modulation.
- 2
Wiring or connector issues
Corroded, damaged, or loose wiring to the solenoid connector or broken pins can cause low voltage signal.
- 3
Transmission fluid problems
Low fluid level, dirty fluid, or contaminated fluid can affect solenoid operation and circuit voltage.
- 4
Transmission control module failure
The TCM may have a defect preventing proper voltage supply to the solenoid circuit.
How to Diagnose It
- 1
Check Faulty Pressure Control Solenoid J — The solenoid itself may be stuck, burned out, or electrically failed, preventing proper fluid pressure modulation.
- 2
Check Wiring or connector issues — Corroded, damaged, or loose wiring to the solenoid connector or broken pins can cause low voltage signal.
- 3
Check Transmission fluid problems — Low fluid level, dirty fluid, or contaminated fluid can affect solenoid operation and circuit voltage.
- 4
Check Transmission control module failure — The TCM may have a defect preventing proper voltage supply to the solenoid circuit.
How to Fix It
- 1
Check and replace transmission fluid
Inspect fluid level and condition; change if dirty or low. Low or contaminated fluid can cause solenoid circuit faults.
- 2
Inspect and repair wiring harness
Check solenoid connector and wiring for corrosion, damage, or loose connections; repair or replace as needed.
- 3
Replace Pressure Control Solenoid J
If solenoid is faulty, remove and replace with OEM or quality aftermarket solenoid; ensure proper installation and connector seating.
- 4
Scan for additional codes and test TCM
Use diagnostic scanner to check for related transmission codes and verify TCM is supplying proper voltage to solenoid circuit; replace TCM if defective.
